MG Windsor Name Confirmed For Upcoming Wuling Cloud-Based Electric Vehicle | V3Cars

What Is The MG Windsor EV?

JSW MG Motor India are calling their upcoming model India’s first Crossover Utility Vehicle. However, for all intents and purposes, the upcoming electric vehicle appears to be a crossover between a hatchback and an MPV. It will offer a 5-seater layout.

Commenting on the occasion of the name reveal, Mr. Satinder Singh Bajwa, Chief Commercial Officer of JSW MG Motor India, said:

 

We are excited to reveal the name of our upcoming CUV: MG Windsor. The Windsor Castle is renowned worldwide as a symbol of royalty and glory, which reflects in every detail of this CUV that exudes excellent craftsmanship, premiumnessand, spaciousness. The advanced tech offerings and the futuristic aerodynamic exterior further add to the appeal of the car. The MG Windsor caters to consumers who seek best of both worlds – comfort of a sedan and the expanse of anSUV.

2024 MG Windsor EV Expected Features

Based on the 2 teaser videos revealed so far, and the specifications and feature list of the Wuling Cloud EV, we expect the MG Winsor to offer the following features:

• ADAS suite
• 8.8-inch digital driver’s display
• 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system
• Synthetic leather seats 
• Sofa mode with 135-degree backseat recline  
• 360-degree surround view monitor
• 6 speakers
• 2nd row AC
• Wireless charger

We could make out features like the Cloud EV’s 2-spoke steering wheel, sofa-like seats, and the LED DRL lighting signature from the latest teaser video.

2024 MG Windsor EV Expected Powertrain Specs And Range

MG India are yet to reveal the electric motor and battery specifications of the upcoming Windsor EV. However, the Wuling Cloud EV sold in other markets get 2 battery pack options – a 37.9kWh option that offers a range of 360km and a 50.6kWh battery pack that offers 460km range. Based on the Wuling Cloud EV, we expect the Windsor EV to put out around 134PS of power, which would make it more powerful than the Nexon medium range variants but less powerful than the XUV400 and Nexon’s long range variants.

2024 MG Windsor EV Expected Price And Rivals

With a length of 4295mm, MG’s version of the Cloud EV will compete with other C-segment electric crossover SUVs such as the upcoming Tata Curvv EV. The upcoming MG EV will slot in between the Comet EV and ZS EV in JSW MG India’s lineup. We expect MG to price it in the Rs. 13.0 lakh - Rs. 17.0 lakh price range.
