Made-In-India Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5 Door Launched In South Africa | V3Cars

Suzuki have launched the made-in-India Jimny 5 Door in South Africa in 3 variants. While the Jimny 5 Door for the South African market is largely similar to the India-spec Jimny, it is offered in 3 variants and costs substantially more than the SUV sold in India. Take a look.

Made-In-India Jimny 5 Door Makes South Africa Debut

Suzuki are offering the Jimny 5 Door in 3 variants – GT MT, GLX MT and GLX AT – for the South African market. They are priced between 429,000 Rand and 479,000 Rand (including VAT), which is equivalent to Rs. 19.5 lakh and Rs. 21.79 lakh, respectively. In comparison, the India-spec Jimny 5 Door is priced between Rs. 12/74 lakh and Rs. 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom). However, Suzuki are offering the Jimny 5 Door in South Africa with a 4-year/60,000km service plan as well as a 5-year/2 lakh km warranty as part of the package.

For South Africa, the Jimny 5 Door is available in 6 monotone and 3 dual-tone colour options, including Military Green, which is not available with the India-spec Jimny due to our legislation. The Jimny 5 Door is sold alongside the Jimny 3 Door, which is also exported from India and costs Rs. 2 lakh less.

The South African-spec Jimny 5 Door is powered by the same 1.5-litre normal petrol engine as the India-spec Jimny. It is offered with the option of a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic and puts out 105PS of power and 134Nm of torque. It also features 4-wheel drive via Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system.

The feature list for the South Africa-spec Jimny is similar to the SUV sold in India. It gets LED headlamps, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, and cruise control. In terms of safety, the Jimny 5 Door for South Africa features 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, hill descent control, hill-hold assist and traction control, all of which are identical to the model sold in India.
