Maruti Suzuki Alto Drops 0.8L Engine — Variant Details Leaked | V3Cars
Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the new-gen Alto soon. Now, a leaked document has revealed the new Alto’s variant and powertrain details. According to the leaked document, Maruti Suzuki will only offer the Alto with the 1.0L K10 normal petrol engine. The 0.8L normal petrol engine will be dropped from the lineup. We expect the Maruti Suzuki Alto to go on sale on August 17.
The current Alto has been on sale for over a decade and the new one promises many changes. Firstly, the new Alto will be based on Maruti’s Heartect platform that underpins other models like the Celerio and WagonR. Hence, the new Alto will be bigger in every dimension. As per the leaked document, the new Alto will measure 3,530mm in length, 1,490mm in width, 1,520mm in height and get a wheelbase of 2,380mm.
Take a look at how the new Alto’s dimensions compares against the outgoing Alto:

On the design front, the new Alto is expected to be more curvier than before with larger proportions. From the images, we can make out the added width and height, along with other design elements. These design elements include clear-lens side turn indicators and body coloured door handles. Around the back, the Alto will also feature rounded tail lights, similar to that of the Celerio.
