Maruti Baleno 2-Airbag & 6-Airbag Tested By BNCAP; Both Score 4-star Crash Test Rating | V3Cars

The areas where the 6 airbags variants present an improvement in score are highlighted with bold and underline. The notable improvements only come side deformable barrier, where the 6 airbag variants provide better protection to the head, chest and stomach.

Hence, the 6 airbag variants scored 26.52 out of 32 (82.88%) while the 2-airbag variants scored 24.04 out of 32 (74.13%). The child rating stood at 34.81 out of 49 (71.04%) with both versions.

Please note that the Baleno is one of the few cars in Maruti’s portfolio that’s yet to get 6 airbags as standard. Even the Alto K10, WagonR and the Eeco now get 6 airbags as standard across the range.

Do note that we recently published an article conveying that the Baleno now gets more than 1.0 lakh worth of discounts. We believe that the Baleno is getting a lot of stock piling up and the discounts were a way to move some of that stock. Perhaps such efforts weren’t moving in the expected direction and this must have prompted Maruti Suzuki to publish the crash test results to boost the sales.
