5 Electric SUVs Under Mahindra XUV, BE Sub-Brand Showcased | V3Cars
Mahindra today presented 5 new electric SUVs, which will launch under 2 completely new sub-brands. 2 SUVs will launch under the XUV brand with the familiar twin-peaks logo while 3 more will fall under the all-new BE electric SUV vertical.
While the electric SUVs under both the sub-brands will share the platform and technologies, the XUV brand will only offer an evolutionary take on the existing Mahindra SUV designs. The BE brand will follow a completely new design language allowing Mahindra to explore design boundaries without any influence from the traditional SUV family.
Just like most electric made from the ground up, these will also use a new skateboard platform. Mahindra are calling theirs the INGLO EV platform. These platforms will also have the ability to accommodate different body styles with minimal cost and engineering effort. Mahindra say that the platform allows them to modify the width, length, wheelbase and overhangs to make various body styles on the same platform.

Other than that, Mahindra confirmed that these SUVs will offer 230PS to 285PS of power on the rear-wheel drive variants. The 4-wheel drive models will have 340PS to 395PS of power output. With the dual-motor setup, these SUVs will have a 0-100kmph acceleration time of 5 to 6 seconds. The battery capacity of these SUVs will vary between 60 and 80kWh and they’ll support up to 175kW DC fast charging to juice up from 0 to 80% in 30 minutes.
Mahindra will use Blade and Prismatic batteries for the SUVs. It’s worth noting that BYD also use Blade batteries for their E6 MPV. BYD also supply Blade batteries to Tesla’s Gigafactory in Germany.
On the technology side, the SUVs will have 3 computers with 2 octa-core processors, 5 radars, Level-2 autonomous driving capabilities, brake-by-wire technology and embedded, always-on, 5G connectivity.
The XUV E08 will launch first in December 2024 while the E09 will launch 5 months later. The BE 05 and 07 will launch in October of 2025 and 2026, respectively. Mahindra have not decided on the launch timeline for the BE 09. Considering the amount of technology, body sizes and battery capacity, we expect the prices of these vehicles to go up to Rs. 50.0 lakh (ex-showroom).
