Kia Sonet Diesel Manual Discontinued — ACMT Launched | V3Cars

Kia India have updated the Sonet with BS6 phase-2 compliant engines. The updated diesel engine now offers the auto-clutch manual transmission (ACMT) as standard. It no longer gets the diesel engine with the full manual transmission option.

Kia Sonet Diesel ACMT Launched

Earlier, only the Sonet turbo petrol offered the ACMT but with the update, the Sonet diesel also offers the option of a 6-speed ACMT. Buyers also get the option of a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The earlier 6-speed manual transmission is no longer available with the Sonet diesel.

The Kia Sonet HTE petrol manual now starts at Rs. 7.79 lakh, which is Rs. 10,000 higher. The top-spec Sonet X Line diesel automatic costs Rs. 14.89 lakh, which is Rs. 50,000 more than before. The diesel ACMT variants of the Sonet command a premium of Rs. 50,000 over the equivalent diesel manual variants.

Kia Sonet Diesel Expected Powertrain Details

Kia are yet to reveal the brochure or powertrain details of the Sonet SUV. Even though Kia’s website lists 2 diesel engine options for the Sonet as before. We expect the 2023 Sonet to offer only one diesel engine, which already does duty on the updated Hyundai Venue, Creta, Kia Seltos and Carens.

Kia are likely to reveal the official specifications for the 2023 Sonet soon. It continues to go up against the likes of the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
