XL6-rivalling Hyundai Stargazer MPV Revealed | V3Cars
Hyundai have taken the wraps off the all-new Stargazer mini MPV in the Indonesian market. This XL6-rivalling small MPV is the first small MPV offering from Hyundai. It comes with a tall-riding design along with spacious interiors.
The Stargazer MPV takes its design cues from the i20-based Bayon crossover and blends them with tall and flowing MPV proportions. At the front, the Stargazer gets a horizontal light bar that covers the width of the front profile, very much like the Tesla Cybertruck. The LED headlights sit below the bumper and flank the rectangular grille. At the side, the Stargazer gets conventional 4 doors and a strong character line. Around the back, it gets H-shaped LED tail lights and ‘Stargazer’ lettering in the middle.

On the inside, the Stargazer comes with a spacious cabin. It gets a freestanding 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluelink. The touchscreen is concealed within a binnacle, which also houses the LCD instrument cluster. Other features include auto AC, captain seats, roof-mounted AC vents, 4-spoke steering wheel, wireless charging, rear tray tables and ambient lighting.

Powering the Hyundai Stargazer is a 1.5L normal petrol engine. It produces 115PS of power and 144Nm of torque. It comes equipped with either a 6-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It’s the same engine offered with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Carens. There are no turbo diesel or turbo petrol engines on offer.
The Stargazer is Hyundai’s entry-level MPV and it rivals other compact MPVs like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Nexa XL6, Kia Carens and Mahindra Marazzo. We do not expect Hyundai to launch the Stargazer in the Indian market anytime soon. However, Hyundai could showcase it at the 2023 Auto Expo to gauge audience response.
