2025 Citroen C3, Aircross & Basalt Dark Edition – What’s New?

As the name suggests, the Dark Editions of the C3, Aircross and Basalt come finished in a black exterior colour and get black model badges in place of chrome ones. The Dark Edition is expected to be based on the top variants of the 3 Citroen SUVs. Hence, expect it to offer the same diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED DRLs, fog lamps, and projector headlamps (Aircross and Basalt only). Citroen could also give these special edition variants a ‘Dark’ badge to set them apart from the standard models.

On the inside, we expect the C3, Aircross and Basalt Dark Editions to get an all-black interior and upholstery with contrast orange stitching. All Citroen Dark models are also expected to offer a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls, 4 to 6 speakers, rear parcel tray, rear power windows, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

2025 Citroen Dark Editions – Expected Powertrain Specs

In terms of powertrain options, we expect the C3 Dark, Aircross Dark and Basalt Dark to all come equipped with Citroen’s 1.2L turbo petrol engine only. The Dark Editions are likely to be offered with the 6-speed manual transmission as well as the 6-speed torque converter automatic option.

Note: The standard models are also available with a 1.2L normal petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual.

The 1.2L turbo petrol engine that is expected to power the Citroen Dark Editions offers 110PS of power and 190Nm of torque with the manual transmission and 205Nm of torque with the automatic. Here are the current specifications and claimed mileage of the C3, Aircross and Basalt turbo petrol variants.

2025 Citroen Dark Editions – Expected Prices

Currently, the C3 turbo petrol is priced from Rs. 9.30 lakh to Rs. 10.27 lakh, while the prices for Aircross turbo petrol range between Rs. 12.11 lakh to Rs. 14.55 lakh. The Basalt SUV coupe powered by the turbo petrol engine is priced from Rs. 11.77 lakh to Rs. 14 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).

We expect Citroen to charge a premium of Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 50,000 for the Dark Editions of the C3, Aircross and Basalt. In terms of rivals, the C3 Dark will take on the Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Ignis, Maruti Fronx, Hyundai Exter and the Mahindra XUV 3XO. 

The larger Aircross Dark Edition will go up against the Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrder, among others.

Finally, the Basalt Dark Edition will rival the upcoming Tata Curvv Dark Edition, which too is set to launch in the coming weeks.
