Citroen Basalt Likely To Undercut Tata Curvv Petrol Launch Price

While Citroen are yet to confirm the exact launch timeline for the Basalt coupe SUV, we expect it to take place ahead of the 2024 festive season, which begins at the end of October. Citroen are likely to wait for the price reveal of the Tata Curvv petrol before determining a price for the Basalt. Citroen India have traditionally priced their offerings lower than their direct rivals, and we expect the carmaker to take a similar approach with the Basalt as well.  

Both the Curvv petrol and Basalt will launch with 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engines. However, the Tata Curvv will also offer a 1.5L diesel engine as well as an all-electric powertrain. 

2024 Citroen Basalt Exterior Design

The latest Citroen Basalt coupe SUV features a front fascia inspired by Citroen models like the C3 and C3 Aircross. Hence, it shares design elements like the split headlamp housing and split chrome grille as the other Citroen models. However, the standout element of the Basalt Vision is its sloping roofline and stubby tail section with a high boot lid that give it the coupe SUV tag.

A high ground clearance, squared wheel arches and side body cladding give the Basalt a rugged design and these elements are complemented by dual-tone alloy wheels that look 16-inches in size.

2024 Citroen Basalt Interior And Features.

While Citroen haven’t revealed the interior of the Basalt Vision, we expect it to share design elements with the C3 Aircross C-segment SUV. So expect it to offer features like a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7.0-inch digital driver’s display. Citroen are likely to position the Basalt Vision coupe SUV above the C3 Aircross. Hence, we could expect some additional premium features like cruise control, push button start-stop system, keyless entry and more.

In terms of safety, the Citroen coupe SUV is likely to offer 6 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and electronic stability control (ESC) as standard.

2024 Citroen Basalt Expected Powertrain Options

Citroen are yet to reveal the powertrain options for the Basalt coupe SUV. That said, it is likely to use the same 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine as the C3 Aircross and C3 SUVs. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine produces 110PS of power and 205Nm of torque and is offered with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission in the C3 Aircross.
