In this April 2022 cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the manufacturer-wise sales figures along with the YoY and MoM change for each carmaker in India. We’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable.

Manufacturer-Wise April 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change

  • In terms of percentage, Skoda posted the best YoY improvement of 436% because of the newly added cars like the Kushaq and Slavia
  • Volkswagen also posted a healthy 132% YoY improvement because of the addition of Taigun to the portfolio
  • MG and Nissan were the worst performers posting 23% and 29% lower YoY sales in April 2022, respectively
  • Maruti Suzuki suffered a drop of 10.2% along with Hyundai also posting 
  • Tata and Toyota witnessed a massive increase in YoY sales figures as their sales jumped 66% and 57%, respectively
  • Kia and Mahindra also posted healthy growth of 18% and 22%, respectively
  • Skoda and Volikswagen were the top YoY gainers while nissan and MG were top losers

  • In terms of MoM change, most carmakers witnessed a drop except Honda as they posted 19.5% improvement
  • Honda were the top MoM gainer while MG were top loser with a 57.5% lower MoM sales figure
  • Maruti Suzuki suffered an 8.9% drop while Tata and Hyundai’s sales remained flat-ish
  • Mahindra and Kia also witnessed substantial drop of 19% and 16%, respectively but not as much as Nissan
  • Nissan’s MoM sales figure dropped 30% in April
