2024 Mahindra Thar 5 Door Interior Spied 

The new images of the Thar 5 door reveal a few changes to the cabin of the SUV. First off, the Thar 5 door that was spied testing features a larger touchscreen system than the unit offered in the Thar 3 door. Based on the images, we can safely assume that the Thar 5 door will get a touchscreen infotainment system that measures up to 10-inch in size. It could run on Mahindra’s AdrenoX interface and offer wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The 5 door Thar also gets new controls on the dashboard for various functions.

Another change is the new steering wheel borrowed from the XUV700 and Scorpio-N SUVs. While the Thar 3 door shares its steering wheel with the Bolero Neo, the Thar 5 door will offer the latest flat-bottom steering wheel with new controls. Furthermore, the Thar 5 door also offers grab handles on the A-pillars for easy ingress and egress. The centre console of the Thar 5 door also features a split-type front armrest with storage underneath. Since the Thar 5 door gets rear windows, Mahindra have moved the power window controls from the centre console to the driver-side door.

The new Thar 5 door is likely to offer the following set of features:

• Front armrest
• Rear armrest
• Automatic climate control

2024 Mahindra Thar 5 Door Powertrain Details

In terms of powertrains, we expect the new Thar 5 door to retain the same 2.2L turbo diesel and the 2.0L turbo petrol engine options as the Thar 3 door. However, both engines could offer more power and torque than the Thar 3 door to overcome the extra weight. Both engine options are likely to come with manual and automatic transmission options along with 2WD and 4WD drivetrains. In the Scorpio N, the 2.2L turbo diesel engine comes in 2 states of tune — 130PS and 175PS. We expect Mahindra to also offer the 200PS tune with the 2.0L turbo petrol engine.

2024 Mahindra Thar 5 Door Launch Details

While earlier rumours suggested Mahindra are planning to launch the Thar 5 door by the end of 2023, the spokesperson for the brand confirmed it will only go on sale in 2024. Hence, it is safe to say that Mahindra could reveal the Thar 5 door in early 2024 and launch it soon after. The new Thar 5 door will not have any direct rivals, save for the Force Gurkha 5 door, which is also slated for a 2024 launch.
