  • Most Affordable Car With 6 Airbags and 5x 3-Point Seatbelts

Hyundai launched the Grand i10 Nios facelift in January 2023 with 3-point seatbelts for all passengers. In October 2023, Hyundai took another step towards making the Grand i10 Nios safer by adding 6 airbags as standard across all variants. This feature addition makes the Nios the most affordable car in India with 6 airbags.

  • Feature Loaded By Segment Standards

The Grand-i10 Nios comes packed with features by segment standards. A few notable features include auto AC, rear AC vents, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, power mirrors, steering-mounted controls, touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, halogen projector headlamps, projector fog lamps, rear defogger and rear washer wiper.

  • Magna And Sportz Variants Offer Great Value

The mid variants of the Grand-i10 Nios come with a balance of must-have and feel-good features. The Magna variant offers features like day/night IRVM, music system, 4 speakers, steering-mounted controls, LED DRLs, rear AC vents, power-adjustable ORVMs, rear power windows and height-adjustable driver seat. The Sportz variant further adds features like projector headlamps, alloy wheels, auto AC, touchscreen infotainment system, rear camera and semi-digital instrument cluster.

  • Respectable Fuel Efficiency

The normal petrol, turbo petrol and petrol-CNG engines of the Grand-i10 Nios offer respectable fuel efficiency of 20.7kmpl, 20.3kmpl and 28.1kmpkg, respectively. While these figures are not class leading, the powertrain options of the Nios offer a good mix of performance, refinement and efficiency, making it a sweet package overall.

  • Four Three Powertrain Options

Hyundai offered the Grand-i10 Nios with a choice of 4 powertrain options, including a 1.2L petrol manual, a 1.2L petrol automatic, a 1.2L petrol-CNG manual and a 1.0L turbo petrol manual. However, in July 2023, Hyundai pulled the plug on the 1.0L turbo petrol manual option. It is worth mentioning that the Grand-i10 Nios was earlier also available with 1.2L turbo diesel manual and automatic options but those, too, discontinued.

  • Missing Features

Even though the Grand-i10 Nios is a feature-packed hatchback, it lacks a couple of features that we would have liked to have at its price point. These features include front and rear armrests, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It is worth mentioning that Hyundai added TPMS and cruise control with the facelift, which were missing in the earlier model, in January 2023.

  • Expensive Premium For Magna-AMT And Magna CNG

The Magna petrol-AMT and Magna petrol CNG variants of the Grand-i10 Nios carry a premium of Rs. 70,800 and Rs. 1,03,200, respectively, over the Magna petrol manual. This premium is comparatively higher than the other variants of the Grand-i10 Nios. In the other variants, the premium for the petrol-AMT and petrol-CNG stands at around Rs. 50,000 and 90,000, respectively. Addressed by Hyundai with the Grand i10 Nios facelift in January 2023 update.

  • Poor Global NCAP Crash Test Rating

Global NCAP are yet to crash test the Grand i10 Nios facelift. However, the earlier model secured a poor 2 star adult safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. Furthermore, it scored just 2 stars in child occupant safety and its body shell was rated unstable. The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios facelift could achieve a higher score now with the addition of 6 airbags and 5x 3-point seatbelts in all variants.

  • Boot Space Non-Existent In CNG Variants

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios offers a boot space of 260L. However, in the CNG variants, the 60-litre CNG tank takes up almost all of the space in the boot. The Grand i10 Nios’ rival, the Tata Tiago CNG, offers a far more usable boot thanks to the adoption of the brand’s innovative twin CNG cylinder technology.
