Hyundai Creta Pros & Cons

Check out pros and cons about the Hyundai Creta that are worth highlighting for a potential buyer. Here are some of the highlights of the benefits of buying the Hyundai Creta. We'll also list out the Creta drawbacks to help you make an informed buying decision.

Creta Advantanges
  • Reasonably Loaded Base Variants

The Hyundai Creta 2024 offers reasonably loaded base variants with features like front and rear armrests, rear AC vents, idle stop and go, remote central locking, rear disc brakes, 6 airbags, ESC, HSA, TPMS, 5x 3-point seatbelts, and tilt and telescopic steering wheel.

  • Feature Packed Top Variants

The Hyundai Creta’s top variants offer a long list of features like powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and ADAS features such as forward collision avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, blind spot collision avoidance assist, and high beam assist.

  • Offers Good Blend Of Performance And Efficiency

The 2024 Hyundai Creta is offered with 5 powertrain options and all of them offer a good balance of performance and fuel efficiency. The 1.5L normal petrol is offered with a 6-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission options. The 1.5L turbo petrol engine is offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, while the 1.5L diesel engine comes with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

  • Class-Leading Turbo Petrol Engine

The 2024 Hyundai Creta’s 1.5L turbo petrol engine produces 160PS of power and 253Nm of peak torque, making it one of the most powerful SUVs in its class. The Kia Seltos also offers the same engine and transmission option and produces the same power and torque figures as the Creta turbo petrol. However, the Creta trumps the Seltos ever so slightly with its higher power-to-weight and torque-to-weight ratios.

  • Strong Resale Value

Ever since the launch of the first-gen Creta in 2015, Hyundai’s compact SUV has ruled the C-SUV segment beating the likes of the Renault Duster, Kia Seltos and contenders. The massive sales numbers and brand recall have ensured the Creta commands a strong resale value in the used car market.

Creta Disadvantanges
  • No Creta Variant Under Rs. 10.0 Lakh

With the introduction of the facelift, the Hyundai Creta is now pricier than before and currently, there are no variants priced under the Rs. 10.0 lakh mark. In comparison, the MG Astor base variant with a price tag of just under Rs. 10.0 lakh offers more features than the base model of the Creta 2024.

  • Creta EX And S Variants Offer Poor Value For Money

The Hyundai Creta EX is priced at a premium of Rs. 1.18 lakh over the base E variant. Yet, it lacks must-have features like rear defogger, rear wiper, rear camera, rear parcel tray and auto AC.

The S variant, on the other hand, costs Rs. 1.22 lakh more than the EX variant and Rs. 2.40 lakh more than the base E variant. While the S variant offers some must-have features, it is hard to justify the price jump from E to S.

  • Adaptive Cruise Control Not Available With Manual Transmission

While Hyundai are one of the few carmakers to offer ADAS features with a manual transmission, they are reserving the adaptive cruise control for the automatic transmission. It’s clearly not a technical hurdle as Honda offer full ADAS suite with the Elevate and City’s manual as well as automatic variants.

  • No Turbo Petrol-Manual Option

Hyundai do not offer the Creta turbo petrol with a manual transmission option while the Verna equipped with the same engine is available with a 6-speed manual in addition to the DCT automatic. The Hyundai Creta turbo petrol-automatic already carries a hefty premium over the normal petrol-automatic. Hence, we would have liked the option of a turbo petrol-manual option priced under Rs. 20.0 lakh for those who want to experience the performance of the turbo petrol engine without breaking the bank.

  • Lacks Powered Tailgate

If we were to nit-pick, we would have liked to see Hyundai offer the option of a powered tailgate at least in the top SX(O) variant of the Creta 2024. A powered tailgate would make loading goods and groceries into the boot an easy affair, especially when your hands are full.
