In terms of dimensions, there’s 2 notable differences: an increase in height and an increase in boot space. The outgoing Dzire had a height of 1515mm, which is 10mm less than the new Dzire. The new Dzire also offers an improved boot space of 382 litres compared to the old Dzire’s 378 litres.

The ground clearance of the new Dzire is the same as the old model at 163mm. The old and new Dzire also share the same length, width, wheelbase, fuel tank capacity and tyre sizes.

In terms of engine specs, the new Dzire gets a major change – a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder normal petrol and 1.2L 3-cylinder CNG bi-fuel engine in place of the old model’s 1.2-litre 4-cylinder normal petrol and CNG bi-fuel engines:

The new Dzire’s 1.2-litre petrol engine has 1 fewer cylinder than the old Dzire. Despite the same displacement, the new Dzire’s petrol engine produces 8.15PS less power and 1.3Nm less torque than the older 4-cylinder petrol engine. However, both maximum power and peak torque are produced at a much lower rpm than before. Hence, we expect the new Dzire to offer similar driveability both in the city and out on the highway. The biggest advantage of the new 1.2-litre petrol engine in the new Dzire is its improved mileage or fuel efficiency. The new Dzire petrol-manual offers a 2.38kmpl improvement in mileage over the old Dzire petrol manual and a significant improvement of 3.1kmpl with the AMT automatic transmission.

Compared to the old Dzire CNG with the 4-cylinder engine, the new Dzire’s 3-cylinder CNG engine produces 7.74PS less power. But the peak torque, which has improved by 3.3Nm, is made lower down the rev range. Thus, the new Dzire CNG should offer excellent driveability in the city.

Like the old Dzire, the new Dzire 2024 is available in 4 variants – LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI Plus. The new Dzire petrol-manual base variant costs Rs. 28,000 more than the equivalent variant of the old Dzire. The VXI petrol-manual and CNG-maual get a price bump of Rs. 35,000. The ZXI variant of the new Dzire costs between Rs.67,000 and Rs. 77,000 more than the equivalent variant of the old hatchback. The fully-loaded ZXI Plus variant with the new sunroof costs between Rs. 76,000 and Rs. 86,000 over the old Dzire ZXI Plus variant without sunroof.
