Auto Expo 2023: Team V3Cars explains how a Flex Fuel vehicle, like the Toyota Corolla Altis showcased at the Auto Expo, functions and how similar or different they are from a conventional car powered by an internal combustion engine.

Flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) have an internal combustion engine and are capable of operating on petrol and any blend of petrol and ethanol up to 83%. E85 (or flex fuel) is a petrol-ethanol blend containing 51% to 83% ethanol, depending on geography and season. Such vehicles offer the flexibility to switch to engine fuel from petrol to ethanol. They can also power the engine from the battery as well, thus helping in reducing the carbon emissions from it.
