Volkswagen Virtus Unveiling Tomorrow - Launch In May | V3Cars

Volkswagen India will unveil the 2022 Virtus tomorrow. It is likely to carry some changes compared to the model, which is on sale in the international markets. South American markets. The Virtus will share its platform and powertrain options with the recently-launched Skoda Slavia.

Unlike the global Virtus, the 2022 model will be specific to the Indian market. It will be underpinned by the brand’s heavily localised MQB-A0 IN platform. Volkswagen may eventually export it to global markets from India, like with the case of the Taigun which is now on sale in the global markets as T-Cross.

On the features front, the Virtus could offer an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, full-colour LCD instrument cluster, touch-based automatic climate control, 6 airbags, cruise control, premium sound system, and 10-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Volkswagen will offer two petrol engines with the Virtus. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine will produce 110PS of power and 175Nm of torque, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The 1.5L turbo petrol engine will produce 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The Volkswagen Virtus will rival other C-segment sedans like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia and the Maruti Suzuki Nexa Ciaz. We expect Volkswagen to price the Virtus in the region of Rs. 10.0 lakh to Rs. 17.0 lakh (ex-showroom).
