Skoda India recently delisted the Superb and Kodiaq from their website while Volkswagen India have confirmed the Gold GTI and Tiguan R Line will launch in India later this year. In this article, we take a look at all the upcoming cars from Skoda and Volkswagen in India, their expected price, specifications and launch timelines.

Upcoming Skoda, Volkswagen Cars In India

1. Volkswagen Golf GTI – April-June 2025

VW have confirmed the launch of the Golf GTI for the Indian market. The Golf GTI is likely to go on sale between April and June 2025. Set to arrive in India as full imports, Volkswagen only plan to sell a limited number of Golf GTIs. The upcoming Golf GTI will become the second GTI model to be sold in India after the 3-door Polo GTI in 2016.

In terms of specs, the Golf GTI is powered by a 2L turbo petrol engine producing 265PS of power and 370Nm of torque. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. The same engine and transmission will also power the upcoming Skoda Octavia vRS (below). VW claim the Gold GTI can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 5.9 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph.

Design highlights of the Golf GTI include 18-inch alloy wheels, GTI badges with contrasting red accents, a roof spoiler along with sporty bumpers at the front and rear. In terms of features, the Golf GTI will offer a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, voice assistant with ChatGPT integration, tartan seat upholstery and GTI-specific steering wheel.

We expect Volkswagen to price the Golf GTI around the Rs. 50 lakh mark. When launched, it will rival the upcoming Octavia vRS as well as Mini Cooper S, which is priced at Rs. 44.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

2. Skoda Kodiaq – May 2025

Skoda India recently delisted the first-gen Kodiaq SUV from their website, suggesting that the launch of the next-gen model is imminent. We first got a glimpse of the new-gen Kodiaq SUV at the Auto Expo 2025. The second-gen Kodiaq features Skoda’s latest design traits such as sleek LED headlamps and taillights, a wider butterfly grille with a satin chrome outline, new front bumper with air inlets, and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the new Kodiaq comes with a layered dashboard design with a spacious centre console equipped with a wireless charger. The new Kodiaq gets a 2-spoke steering wheel with a stalk behind it to change gears. In terms of features, expect the Kodiaq to offer a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, as well as heated and ventilated front seats.

Skoda will launch the Kodiaq 2025 with a 2L turbo petrol engine at launch. This engine, which produces 204PS of power and 320Nm of torque, will come mated to a 7-speed DCT. We expect Skoda to offer all-wheel-drive as standard.

Like the now-discontinued model, we expect Skoda to price the new-gen Kodiaq around the Rs. 45 lakh (ex-showroom) mark, where it will compete with full-grown SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian.

3. Volkswagen Tiguan R Line – June 2025

Along with the Golf GTI, VW India have also confirmed the launch of the 2025 Tiguan R Line. The top variant of the Tiguan, which was revealed in 2023, is expected to come to India as a full import. It offers a sportier design than the standard variants sold in India thanks to more aggressively styled front and rear bumpers, a roof spoiler and ‘R Line’ specific window trims. 19-inch alloy wheels and connected LED taillamps further elevate the Tiguan R Line from the standard SUV.

Like the Golf GTI, the Tiguan R Line will offer a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting with 3 light zones, a panoramic sunroof, and more.

VW India are yet to confirm the powertrain specs of the India-bound Tiguan R Line, but we expect it to come packed with the same 2L turbo petrol engine as the Kodiaq SUV. In terms of pricing, we expect the Tiguan R Line to cost around Rs. 45 - 50 lakh (ex-showroom), considering it will be a full import. For reference, the standard Tiguan is priced at Rs. 38.17 lakh (ex-showroom).

Skoda India showcased the 4th-gen Octavia vRS at the Auto Expo in January 2025  to gauge customer feedback. The 2025 Octavia vRS is powered by a 2L turbo petrol engine producing 265PS of power and 370Nm of torque, enabling it to sprint from 0-100kmph in just 6.4 seconds. Like the previous Octavia vRS sold in the country, the new model is expected to come with a single transmission option – a 7-speed DCT.

Based on the Octavia facelift, which never made it to India, the 2025 Octavia vRS offers subtle upgrades over the standard Octavia that was discontinued in April 2023. Up front, the sporty notchback retains Skoda’s butterfly grille design with a ‘vRS’ badge. The grille is flanked by LED matrix beam headlights with integrated DRLs. Other highlights on the Octavia vRS include 18-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels, LED tail lamps and a gloss black boot lip spoiler.

On the inside, the Octavia vRS offers an all-black cabin with red highlights and features include a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 10.25-inch digital instrument closer, ambient lighting, powered front seats with heating and ventilation, dual-zone climate control, and a wireless phone charger.

We expect Skoda to launch the 2025 Octavia vRS in July 2025 at a price of Rs. 45 lakh (ex-showroom).

5. Skoda Superb - December 2025

Like the Kodiaq, the fourth-gen Superb sedan will come to India in limited numbers and as a full import. Showcased at the Auto Expo 2025, the new Superb offers an evolutionary design, incorporating Skoda’s Modern Solid design language. Up front, the signature butterfly grille is now wider and features satin surrounds. The new grille is flanked by sleek LED headlights with sharp LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and wraparound LED taillights.

The 2025 Superb’s interior features a dual-tone color scheme complemented by silver accents and climate control dials. The 2-spoke steering wheel, similar to those found in the Slavia and Kushaq, is present, along with a digital driver’s display. Key features of the 2025 Superb include a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital driver's display, Multi-color ambient lighting, premium sound system, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, and wireless phone charger.

The new-gen Superb 2025 will launch with Skoda-VW’s 2L turbo petrol engine with an output of 204PS of power and 400Nm of torque. Like other cars sold in India with this engine, the Superb also gets a 7-speed DCT. At the Auto Expo, Skoda officials told V3Cars that they could potentially reintroduce their 2L diesel engine in India, provided there’s enough demand for it.

We expect the new-gen Superb to go on sale by the end of 2025, probably in December, at a starting price of Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, it will continue its rivalry with the 2025 Toyota Camry.
