Tata Punch ICE Facelift Spotted – To Launch In 2025 | V3Cars

The Tata Punch facelift was spotted testing for the first time recently ahead of its launch, which is confirmed for 2025. The latest Punch spy shots show several styling cues borrowed from the Punch EV, which is in contradiction to what Tata Motors officials told us at a press interaction earlier this year. Check out the latest spy shots of the Punch facelift here.

Tata Punch Facelift To Borrow Punch EV Design?

At a press interaction earlier this year, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, the MD of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd, stated that the Punch facelift will feature a distinct design over the Punch EV. “Starting from the Punch EV, which is based on the pure EV architecture Acti.ev, our aim is to differentiate the ICE and EVs. Therefore, you will continue to see a differentiated look and feature set in an EV versus ICE. So when we come with a facelift for ICE, which is in the middle of 2025 or slightly later, it will come with a differentiated look with a different set of features as compared to the Punch EV,” he added.

However, the latest spy shots of the Punch facelift show Punch EV design elements like the thin LED DRLs on the edge of the bonnet, bumper-mounted headlamps and an identical air dam up front. Although covered in camouflage, the side and rear profile look identical to the current version of the Tata Punch. The spy shots suggest no changes to the tail lamps and rear bumper.

Currently, the Nexon ICE and Nexon EV feature a largely similar design. The only differentiating factors at the front are the Nexon EV’s full-width LED DRLs and slatted lower grille. The Nexon ICE misses out on the full-width LED DRLs and get a contrast black upper nose section along with a mesh lower grille and larger faux skid plate. We could expect Tata to take a similar design approach with the Punch ICE facelift as well. Further, the Punch facelift could offer a white dual tone roof option instead on the Punch EV’s black roof.

Tata Punch Facelift – Expected Features

The Tata Punch ICE could offer some, if not all, of the features that Tata introduced with the Punch EV. The electric version of the small SUV gets:

  • 10.24-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 10.24-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Wireless charger
  • Electronic parking brake
  • Leatherette seats
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Connected LED DRLs with charge indicator
  • Sequential turn indicators
  • Air purifier
  • Sunroof (optional)
  • Steering wheel with illuminated logo
  • Touch-based HVAC controls

We could expect the Punch ICE to feature a smaller touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster and lack some of the features mentioned above to keep its costs in check. However, Tata could offer all of the standard safety features of the Punch EV, such as 6 airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), 3-point seatbelts for all seats, and ISOFIX mounts, with the Punch ICE as well.

Tata Punch Facelift – Expected Powertrain Specs

In terms of powertrain options, we expect the Punch ICE to retain its current set of engine and transmission options. The Tata Punch ICE is currently available with a 1.2-litre normal petrol with the option of a 5-speed manual (MT) and 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). It also gets the option of a 1.2-litre CNG engine with Tata’s innovative twin-CNG cylinder technology that liberates boot space. While the current Tata Punch CNG is only offered with a 5-speed manual transmission, the Punch CNG facelift could also come with the option of a 5-speed AMT like the Tata Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG.
