Get Free Public Charging With A New Tata Punch EV, Nexon EV (Just Like MG Windsor EV!) | V3Cars

After MG Windsor, Tata Motors, are also offering free public charging with their Nexon EV and Punch EV. However, this offer is not as attractive as that from MG. Tata are offering free public charging for 6 months on their Tata Power EZ Charge app. Here’s the Apple iOS version of the Tata Power EZ Charge app.

If you take delivery of the MG Windsor EV before the new year, then you’re eligible for unlimited free public charging on MG eHub app for up to 1 year. We can see the impact of the Windsor EV’s attractive upfront pricing and free charging offer on Tata EVs. Just days before the Windsor’s launch, Tata Motors substantially dropped the prices of their Punch EV and Nexon EV. Then, they went on to launch the 45kWh version of the Nexon EV, which offers longer range. The Nexon EV 45 can realistically achieve a range, which is similar to that of the Windsor EV.

And now, we have a free charging option with the Punch EV and Nexon EV. Even this initiative feels half-hearted (no pun intended) as Tata are giving free charging for only half the duration compared to MG Windsor. Moreover, MG are offering free charging for buyers taking delivery in the 2024 calendar year, while Tata are giving this offer only till October 31, 2024.

We’re also hearing of Tata exploring the battery subscription option just like the MG did. Still, unlimited kilometre lifetime battery warranty for the first owner of the car remains an MG Windsor exclusive feature.

Not only are they suffering multiple blow from MG in this area, the Delhi government’s decision to do away with free registration of electric cars is also hurting Tata EV’s sales.
