Tata Punch CNG Production Begins

According to our sources, Tata Motors have started the production of the Tata Punch CNG and it will go on sale soon. The Punch will be the 4th CNG model offered by Tata Motors. Just like the Tata Altroz, the Punch will also get the Tata Motor’s twin cylinder setup, which should free up more boot space than having a large, single cylinder setup. The twin cylinders of 30L each places under the boot floor should help the Tata Punch offer a larger boot space than its arch rival, the Hyundai Exter.

Tata Punch CNG Powertrain Details

We expect the Tata Punch CNG to get the 1.2L CNG-petrol engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Punch CNG is likely to offer 77PS of power and 96Nm of torque. Just like other Tata CNG cars like the Tiago, Tigor and the Altroz, the Punch will also offer the direct ignition start with the CNG mode, which is one of the unique features offered by the carmaker.

Tata Punch CNG Interior And Features

Apart from an “I-CNG badge on the tailgate, the Tata Punch CNG will look the same as the petrol variants of the micro SUV. The Tata Punch CNG is not expected to get any additional changes either.

At the Auto Expo 2023, Tata Motors showcased the top spec-variant of the Punch CNG and it was equipped with features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen, digital driver’s display, auto AC, Android and Apple CarPlay, 16-inch alloy wheels, engine start/stop button and height-adjustable driver’s seat. The SUV showcased at the Auto Expo did not feature a sunroof but we expect the production version to offer this coveted feature and then trickle down to the petrol variants of the micro SUV.

We expect the Tata Punch CNG to cost around Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 95,000 more than the corresponding variants of the Tata Punch petrol.
