2025 Harrier EV 4WD Showcased At Tata’s Chakan Plant | V3Cars

Tata Motors recently showcased their upcoming Harrier EV 2025 at their Chakan plant, located in the outskirts of Pune, Maharashtra. This time around, they had fully-functional, near-production-ready versions of the Harrier EV doing stunts at their test track and going over steep inclines.

Tata Harrier EV 4WD 2025 — Showcased At Tata’s Plant

The Harrier EV brings Tata Motors back in competition with REAL SUV makers in India. Despite having a huge market share among “SUVs”, Tata haven’t really had a 4WD in their B2C portfolio for a good while. The last 4WD car they had on sale was the Safari Storme, which didn’t get its BS6 upgrade.

Tata Motors first showcased the Harrier EV at the 2025 Mobility Expo. However, in the recent past, the electric car occupying most of potential buyers’ mindshare is one of the two: Mahindra BE6 or the XEV 9e. The Harrier EV showcase is an attempt to start creeping into the customers’ peripheral view as they decide which EV to buy next.

In price range, the XEV 9e is a more realistic competitor for the Tata Harrier EV 2025. And, this time around, Tata have a 4WD in their product while Mahindra don’t. Mahindra’s XEV 9e as well as the BE6 are both ready to accept a dual-motor configuration. The platform supports 4WD setup. They just haven’t confirmed to us when they intend to start offering 4WD versions of the XEV 9e.

2025 Tata Harrier EV Launch Timeline

Now that they are starting to showcase doing drifts, it suggests that we aren’t more than 2 months away from Tata Motors announcing the prices of the Harrier EV 2025. That puts the launch deadline somewhere around mid-May 2025.

Tata Harrier EV 2025 Expected Price

The Harrier EV can’t match the Mahindra XEV 9e in terms of tech. It’s a pretty plain-Jane EV with only mostly mechanical strengths to showcase. Meanwhile, the 9e is a stronger contender in all areas except for 4WD capabilities and mass appeal for the design. We expect the Harrier EV to cost between Rs. 22.0 lakh and Rs. 32.0 lakh (ex-showroom).

At these prices, the Harrier EV will have sufficient distance from the Harrier diesel base model (Rs. 15.0 lakh). On the upper end of the price spectrum, the Harrier EV’s 4WD will help offset Mahindra’s advantage in other areas such as a slightly larger battery pack, stronger performance and cutting-edge from skin to bone.

Tata Motors, meanwhile, have an advantage in terms of far better margins as they have greater experience making and selling EVs. a Rs. 1.0 lakh odd price premium seems justified for the 4WD in exchange for slightly older and unimpressive tech.
