Skoda Superb Sedan Discontinued

Earlier this year, Skoda India discontinued the Octavia due to low sales and impending BS6 Phase 2 emission norms. The Superb was expected to face the axe soon after the Octavia. However, Skoda took their time to remove the lot flagship sedan from their website. Now, Skoda have officially removed the Superb sedan from their website, leaving the Slavia as the only Skoda sedan available in the country. Skoda offered the Superb with a sole 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine, which also powered the Octavia.

While the current Skoda Superb is no longer on sale, its successor could hit our shores in late 2023. Skoda will unveil the new Superb sedan and estate and Kodiaq SUV in the coming months. While the 2023 Kodiaq is not likely to go on sale in India in 2023, the Superb could come to India this year to continue its rivalry with the Toyota Camry Hybrid.

While Skoda haven’t revealed any official images of the new Superb, a few spy shots revealed a few key details. On the design front, the Superb is likely to continue with the sleek LED headlights that flank Skoda’s signature chrome butterfly grille. Around the side, the sedan retains its sloping roofline and the spy shots also confirm its notchback-styled tailgate opening. Like the earlier Superb, expect the new sedan to offer a lot of luggage-carrying capacity.

The discontinued Skoda Superb offered a 2.0L turbo petrol engine. It produces 190PS of power between 4200rpm and 6000rpm and 320Nm of torque between 1450rpm and 4200rpm. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. We expect Skoda to bring the same engine with the new Superb, albeit with BS6 phase-2 and RDE compliance.
