September 2022 Cars Sales Analysis - D-Segment Cars YoY, MoM Change, 6-Month Trend | V3Cars

In this September 2022 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all D-segment cars in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all D-segment cars for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend.

D-Segment Cars Sales Analysis

D-Segment Cars September 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change

  • SUVs and MPVs continue to rule the D-segment
  • The Scorpio, Innova, XUV700, Carens and Harrier took the top 5 spots consecutively for several months
  • In fact, the top 10 best selling D-segment cars are all SUVs or MPVs, with 4 out of the top 5 being SUVs
  • In September YoY sales comparison, the Mahindra XUV700 was the top-gaining car, posting a 342% growth in sales
  • The Scorpio showed a massive growth of 268% and was the second best-gainer thanks to the introduction of the all-new Scorpio-N and the updated Scorpio Classic
  • The Skoda Superb was the top-selling sedan in the D-segment, with 190 units dispatched in September 2022, which was 9.5% lower than its September 2021 sales figure
  • The Hector/Hector Plus and Octavia were the top losers, with a decline of 22.67% and 35%, respectively
  • MG and Mahindra don’t provide separate sales figures for their 5-seater and 7-seater D-segment SUVs

D-Segment Cars September 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change

  • In terms of MoM performance, the Scorpio sisters were the best-selling cars in the D-segment, and saw a growth of 35% in September over August
  • Among the low-volume cars, the MG Gloster and Skoda Superb were the top gainers ,with a growth of 68% and 41%, respectively
  • Toyota’s Hillux and Vellfire were among the biggest losers in September MoM comparison, with a decline of 90% and 57%, respectively
  • Kia failed to sell even a single unit of the Kia EV6 in September 2022.
