New Skoda SUV To Rival Tata Nexon Confirmed – To Launch By March 2025 | V3Cars
Skoda India have confirmed their plan to launch a new B2-segment SUV in India. The new SUV will measure under 4 metres in length and compete with popular SUVs like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, and others. Skoda officials have stated that their B2 SUV will launch a year from now, so we can expect it to hit our roads in March 2025. Let’s take a look at what Skoda have shared with us so far.
Skoda Sub-4 Metre SUV Teaser Released
Skoda India have released a teaser sketch of their compact SUV. The design sketch suggests the upcoming Skoda SUV will feature a split headlamp design with the LED DRLs mounted high up and headlamps positioned lower on the bumper. The LED DRLs are likely to flank a large butterfly grille, which could give the SUV enhanced road presence despite its compact size. The side and rear profile are likely to take design inspiration from the Kushaq C-segment SUV.
Skoda are yet to finalise a name for their upcoming SUV. However, they are currently conducting a poll to select the name for the SUV. The list includes names like the Kwiq, Kariq, Kyroq, Kymaq, and Kylaq.
Upcoming Skoda SUV Will Be Based On MQB-A0-IN Platform
The upcoming Skoda B2 SUV will share Skoda-VW India’s MQB-A0-IN platform. This platform already underpins the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia and the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus. With heavy localisation and sharing of parts, we could expect Skoda to price their upcoming SUV quite competitively.

As far as powertrain options are concerned, we expect it to come with Skoda-VW’s 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that puts out 115PS of power and 178Nm of torque.

The upcoming Skoda B2 SUV’s power and torque figures are comparable to the Tata Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbo petrol and Hyundai-Kia’s 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that powers the Venue and Sonet. Renault-Nissan’s 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, on the other hand, falls behind with just 100PS of power and 152Nm of torque. The Brezza is the least powerful of the lot, with its 1.5-litre normal petrol engine only producing 105PS of power and 137Nm of torque.
Upcoming Skoda SUV Expected Price
The statement confirming the development said Skoda are “systematically developing our local supplier base to provide parts and components of global standards and quality at competitive prices.” However, it remains to be seen if Skoda can undercut its turbo petrol rivals without too many compromises. Considering the likes of the Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet’s turbo petrol variants are priced from Rs. 10.0 lakh (ex-showroom), we could expect the base variant of the Skoda SUV to price the base variant of their upcoming SUV just under Rs. 10.0 lakh to generate interest among B2-segment SUV buyers. The top variant could surge past Rs. 14.0 lakh, which would put it in the same ballpark as the Ambition variant of its elder sibling, the Skoda Kushaq 1.0-litre turbo petrol.
