New Tata Nexon Spotted Undergoing Emission Test — New Turbo Petrol Engine? | V3Cars
The test mule of the new-gen Tata Nexon was spotted multiple times over the past few months. A new set of spy shots shared by our reader reveal the emission testing gear strapped on to the boot of the upcoming Nexon, hinting towards a new turbo petrol engine for the B2-segment SUV.
2023 Tata Nexon Likely To Feature New Turbo Petrol Engine
Tata Motors showcased their new range of turbo petrol engines at the 2023 Auto Expo. While the carmaker said that they plan to introduce the new 1.2L turbo petrol engine with the Curvv coupe-SUV, we believe that the new engine will actually make its debut with the Nexon. Currently, the Nexon comes with a 120PS 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine.

While the new engine also boasts a 3-cylinder configuration it also gets gasoline direct injection. As a result, it produces more power and torque, which stand at 125PS and 225Nm, respectively. A previous leak confirmed that the automatic variants of the new Nexon could feature andual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) instead of the less inferior automated manual transmission (AMT). Apart from the new turbo petrol engine, the new Nexon is also likely to continue with a 1.5L turbo diesel engine.
2023 Tata Nexon Exterior Details
Speaking of other exterior details, the new Nexon is likely to offer a split LED headlight that will make it fall in line with the smaller Punch and larger Harrier SUVs. It could feature a connected LED light bar that covers the width of the front and merge with the Tata logo at the centre. Around the side, the new Nexon that was spied continues to come with wheel arch cladding and flared wheel arches. The new model could offer a new design for the 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, the new Nexon will offer slimmer LED tail lights with a connected LED light bar and sequential turn indicators.
2023 Tata Nexon — Interior And Features
On the inside, the new Nexon could offer a revamped dashboard design with better quality materials and features. The centre of the dashboard is likely to host Tata’s new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will also boast Tata’s new 2-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo. Waiting for this from so long…
I think this car will become literally unbeatable in its segment especially if it comes with the new 1.2 TGDI engine. The main drawback of Nexon has been it's engine performance till now. But how sure are you of this engine change?
