Mini Reveal Cooper SE Convertible – Limited To 999 Units | V3Cars
The Mini Cooper SE hatchback has been a popular option among electric car buyers in Europe since 2019. According to the BMW-owned brand, one in 5 Mini sold in Europe is currently electric, and the carmaker plans to go all-electric by 2030. In July 2022, Mini revealed a convertible version of the Cooper SE as a design study. The carmaker says it received such positive feedback that they had to go ahead with a small series production of the all-electric convertible Mini Cooper. To that effect, Mini have revealed the Cooper SE Convertible and it is limited to just 999 units. Let’s take a closer look at the Mini Cooper SE Convertible and check out what it offers.
Mini Cooper SE Convertible – What’s New?
Apart from the convertible roof, the overall design of the Mini Cooper SE Convertible is pretty similar to the standard closed-top version. However, being a limited production model, the Cooper SE Convertible offers a few special touches, such as a bronze finish for the door handles, front fender trims and the surrounds for the front and rear lights. The brand and model logos are finished in piano black rather than silver on the standard model. It also gets a ‘1 of 999’ lettering on the front fenders and door sills.

There aren’t any changes to the cabin of the all-electric convertible Mini Cooper. Hence, it continues to get yellow accents all around, leatherette seats and a steering wheel finished in Nappa leather. Quite naturally, the convertible roof eats into boot space, with the Mini Cooper SE Convertible offering just 160 litres of storage space. Mini says the roof can be folded up or down at speeds of up to 30kmph.
Notable features of the 2023 Mini Cooper SE Convertible include:
- 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- 5.5-inch multi-information display (MID)
- Apple CarPlay
- Head-up display
- Ambient lighting
- Adaptive cruise control
Mini Cooper SE Convertible – Electric Powertrain
The Mini Cooper SE Convertible features a front-mounted electric motor that produces 187PS of power. It is connected to a 32.6kWh battery pack, which offers a WLTP-claimed range of 201km and does the 0-100kmph sprint in 8.2 seconds. The 0-100kmph sprint and range are 0.9 seconds and 69km lower than the hardtop version.
