MG ZS EV Achieves 10,000 Sales Milestone

MG Motor India launched the ZS EV back in January 2020 as a direct competitor to the Hyundai Kona Electric. While Hyundai launched the Kona and never brought any update for the electric crossover, MG Motor India launched an updated version of ZS EV in February 2021 with improved range and more features. Since the ZS EV was received well in the market, the carmaker launched the ZS EV facelift in March 2022 with a sleeker design, larger battery pack and a couple of new features.

MG ZS EV Powertrain Details

The MG ZS EV comes with a 50.3kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 461km on a single charge. It gets a front mounted electric motor that produces 177PS of power and 280Nm of torque. In terms of charging, the ZS EV can juice up its battery from 0-80% in under an hour with a DC fast charger, whereas a full 0-100% charge via a AC home charger takes around 9 hours.

MG Motor India offer a long list of features with the ZS EV, including a dual-pane electric sunroof, a 360-degree parking camera, drive modes, multi-level regenerative braking, touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital instrument cluster, cruise control and rain-sensing wipers. Unlike the MG Astor on which it is based, the ZS EV lacks advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features like auto emergency braking, lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control.

New MG ZS EV In The Works

While the MG ZS EV is relatively new in the Indian market for a generation change, it’s been on sale in the global market for a long time. MG are already working on the next-gen ZS EV, which will share its platform with the MG4 electric hatchback. The carmaker showcased the MG4 electric hatchback along with a host of other electric, plug-in and fuel-cell electric vehicles at the Auto Expo 2023.
