MG Windsor EV Launch Date Confirmed

After releasing multiple teaser images and videos and giving us a sneak peek into the cabin of their upcoming offering, JSW MG Motor India have finally confirmed the Windsor EV will launch on September 11. The 2024 Windsor EV takes its name from the iconic Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom and is a rebadged version of the Wuling Cloud already available in overseas markets.  

2024 MG Windsor EV Dimensions 

Despite its large hatchback-like appearance, MG Motor claim the Windsor EV is a crossover, offering a blend of hatchback practicality and SUV-like space. Based on the dimensions available online for the Wuling Cloud EV, we can confirm the MG Windsor EV will be shorter in length than the MG ZS EV. However, the Windsor EV will be wider and boast a longer wheelbase than the MG electric SUV, which should help it offer ample space for all 5 passengers.

In terms of numbers, the Windsor EV will measure 4295mm in length, 1850mm in width and 1652mm in height. The Windsor EV will boast a wheelbase of 2700mm.

2024 MG Windsor EV Interior And Features

The interior of the MG Windsor EV offers several comfort and technology features. A large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes centre stage, complemented by an 8.8-inch digital instrument display for a modern and driver-centric experience. Passengers can enjoy the comfort of "Italian bubble-style" leatherette seats with electric adjustment for the front row. MG has also teased a unique "Sofa Mode" recline function for the rear seats, perfect for relaxing during long journeys.  

Expect the Windsor EV to also offer modern amenities like a powered tailgate, 360-degree parking cameras, wireless phone charging, and a 6-speaker sound system. Additionally, the Windsor EV will be equipped with connected car technology, allowing remote access and vehicle monitoring features.

Safety Features Of 2024 Windsor EV

The Windsor EV is expected to come equipped with 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), disc brakes on all wheels, and hill hold assist for enhanced control. We expect MG To offer the Windsor EV with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and lane departure warning for an extra layer of safety on the road.

2024 MG Windsor EV Powertrain And Range

The MG Windsor EV is likely to borrow the battery pack from the Wuling Cloud, featuring a 50.6kWh lithium ferro-phosphate (LFP) chemistry similar to the MG ZS EV. This translates to an expected range of around 460km on a single charge, putting it on par with the ZS EV. Charging times are also expected to be similar, with a regular AC charger taking over 7 hours for a full charge, while a DC fast charger should replenish the battery to 80% in about 30 minutes.  

The Windsor EV will likely be powered by a single electric motor driving the front wheels. This motor is expected to deliver 134PS of power and 200Nm of torque, which is slightly less powerful than the MG ZS EV.

2024 Windsor EV Expected Prices And Rivals

MG is expected to position the Windsor EV between the Comet and ZS EV in terms of pricing. With an anticipated launch price range of Rs 13-17 lakh, the Windsor EV will directly compete with the Tata Nexon EV, currently India's best-selling electric car. It will also rival other EVs such as the Mahindra XUV400 and the new Tata Curvv EV.
