According to the latest rumours, Mercedes-Benz is set to pull the plug on the A-Class in the US market after 2022. Meanwhile, the CLA will continue to be sold until 2023, before it receives a similar fate. This move will make the GLA SUV the most affordable Mercedes-Benz model in the US.

During Mercedes-Benz’ annual press conference, Mr Martin Schwenk, head of Mercedes-Benz, stated that the A-Class and the GLA are fairly new products and do not need any facelifts at this point of time. As the American arm of Mercedes-Benz will pull the plug on both the A-Class and CLA, the future of both models in the global market is under question.

In India, Mercedes-Benz India offer the A-Class sedan. The A-Class hatch, on the other hand, is offered as a CBU in AMG 45s guise. Mercedes-Benz India offer the A-Class sedan with three engine options – a 1.3L turbo petrol, a 2.0L turbo diesel, and a 2.0L turbo petrol from the AMG line. The latter comes with all-wheel-drive and performance tweaks by AMG. Mercedes-Benz India have stated that they will launch 10 models in 2022, including the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, Mercedes EQS electric sedan, and the AMG GT-R Black Series.
