MG Windsor EV Boot Space Confirmed

The source confirms that the MG Windsor will have a 604-litre boot space. In the variants, which get the subwoofer, the boot space will be 579 litres. This is most likely the boot space when filled up to the roof, since the Baojun Yunduo or Wuling Cloud EV specify boot space as 382 litres. Windsor, Yunduo and Cloud EV are pretty much the same car witih different brand badging for specific markets.

MG Windsor EV Battery/Range Confirmed

Our source also confirmed that for the Indian market, MG have chosen to offer a 37.9kWh battery pack for the Windsor EV. This version has a claimed range of 360km on CLTC (Chinese test cycle/China Light-duty Test Cycle).

The Cloud EV/Yunduo also gets a 50.6kWh battery pack option in some markets, which has a CLTC range of 460km on a full charge.

We know that the Comet EV (Wuling Air EV) with the 17.3kWh battery pack has a 200km range in the Indonesian market. But, in our lenient ARAI tests, it managed to achieve 230km range, which is a 15% improvement.

Even with a conservative 11% improvement in ARAI tests over the more stringent CLTC test, we can safely expect the MG Windsor to hit the 400km range mark in the ARAI tests. However, with an assumption of a more realistic 14% improvement, we expect 410km ARAI range from the Windsor.

Breaching a major round-figure mark in range is very important for any carmaker as multiples of 100 serve as good psychological levels. Our mind perceives Rs. 9.90 lakh and Rs. 10.1 lakh differently even though they're only Rs. 20,000 apart. Meanwhile, Rs. 8.40 lakh and Rs. 8.60 lakh appear closer together on the price band

MG Windsor EV — Other Missing Features

Besides ADAS, we also can’t confirm if the Windsor will offer 4-way power front passenger and power tailgate. Both of these features are available in the international market of this car.

Since MG are choosing to skip the ADAS for the Windsor, which has a high cost:perceived value ratio, we should also assume that the India-spec Windsor won’t get these 2 features either.
