Will Kia Replace It With A New Edition?

Kia launched the Sonet back in 2020 and it will complete 3 years in late-2023. Hence, we expect Kia to showcase either the Sonet facelift or some kind of a special edition of the sub-compact SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo. The new Brezza and the Venue facelift have ruled segment sales ever since their introduction and Kia hope the Sonet facelift will reinvigorate interest in the sun-compact SUV.

We do not expect Kia to make any major changes in terms of powertrains. Kia currently offer the Sonet with a 83PS 1.2L normal petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine produces 120PS of power at 6000rpm and 172Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 4000rpm. It comes with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. On the other hand, the 1.5L turbo diesel engine produces 100PS and 240Nm with the 6-speed manual and 115PS and 250Nm of torque with the automatic transmission.
