2 New EVs Coming By 2025
Kia India have confirmed 2 new EVs for the Indian market by 2025. While the carmaker hasn’t revealed the segments and body styles of these models, Kia confirmed that they will be assembled locally at their Anantapur manufacturing facility. Since Kia have officially confirmed that they will not consider hatchbacks and sedans in the future, it leaves us with 2 body styles — SUV and MPV — which Kia like to call RV.

Kia EV9 Could Be The Next EV Launch
Since the made-in-India electric Kia model will hit our shores around 2025, we expect Kia to launch the recently-launched EV9 electric SUV in 2024. Kia India showcased the EV9 concept at the 2023 Auto Expo alongside the new Carnival KA4. The EV9 electric SUV recently went on sale in global markets as an all-electric substitute to the Kia Telluride.
The Kia EV9 comes with a 99.8kWh battery pack, which channels power to 2 electric motors. The dual motor long range model offers 385PS of power and 600Nm of torque. With boost mode, it can do the 0-100kmph sprint in a claimed 5.3 seconds. When launched, the EV9 will become the flagship Kia in India and go up against other premium electric SUVs like the BMW iX and Audi Q8 E-Tron.

Made-In-India EV To Also Have An ICE Counterpart
Kia India are also developing a made-in-India all-electric RV, which is set to launch in 2025. At the unveiling of the Seltos, Kia also revealed that their upcoming all-electric RV will also have an ICE-powered counterpart. Kia will launch the new model as an EV first and its ICE derivative will follow later. It’s similar to the Tata Curvv, which will be launched as an EV first followed by the ICE model. With these new launches in place, Kia aim to achieve a 10% market share in India by the year 2028.
