Jeep Confirm Meridian Name For Upcoming 3-Row SUV | V3Cars

Jeep’s upcoming Meridian is already on sale in several global markets with the name Commander. The Meridian’s exterior looks similar to the Compass. However, it will boast slimmer LED headlights and high-set LED tail lights. It will also feature a different set of alloy wheels compared to the Jeep Compass.

On the inside, we expect the cabin layout of the Meridian to be similar to that of the Compass. It could feature a freestanding touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other expected features include a dual-zone climate control, a digital instrument cluster, 360-degree parking camera, a Harman Kardon sound system, and various terrain and drive modes. Jeep India could offer the Meridian with 6- and 7-seat configurations.

The Jeep Meridian is expected to get a 2.0L diesel engine with a mild hybrid system. It is likely to produce around 200PS of power and could be offered with a choice of 6-speed manual and 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission, along with a 4-wheel-drive system. We expect Jeep India to also offer a turbo petrol engine with the Meridian. In the Brazilian market, Jeep offer the Meridian with a 1.3L turbo petrol and a 2.0L turbo-diesel engine.

The Jeep Meridian will rival SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq and MG Gloster. Interestingly, the Kodiaq which is the most sensible rival to the Meridian, has been sold out for 2022. We expect Jeep to price the Meridian in the range of Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 35 lakh (ex-showroom).
