Hyundai launched the Grand i10 Nios facelift today and revealed the starting price of the B1-segment hatchback. After the launch, Hyundai officials conducted a Q&A session with the media where they ruled out the possibility of launching the Grand i10 Nios N Line in India. However, the carmaker promised to bring another N Line product to out shores this year. Read on to know more about the future of Hyundai’s N Line brand in India.

No Grand i10 Nios N Line Planned For India

With the launch of the Grand i10 Nios facelift, Hyundai pulled the plug on the 1.0L turbo petrol engine that was offered in the outgoing Nios hatchback. While turbo petrol engines are finding favour among buyers in higher car segments, they do not seem to be a popular option in the A and B1 segments. Normal petrol and CNG engine options are more popular in this segment thanks to their impressive fuel efficiency and relatively lower running costs.

While we knew the Grand i10 Nios facelift would not get the turbo petrol engine at launch, we expected it to make a comeback with the N Line variant. However, during the Q&A session, Hyundai officials ruled out the possibility of the Grand i10 Nios N Line, at least for the foreseeable future. As per Hyundai’s internal data, the average age of the Grand i10 Nios buyer is 40 years and that age group doesn’t want a hatchback with a sporty intent. Furthermore, the N Line duo, which is the i20 N Line and Venue N Line, are performing impressively well for the carmaker.

New N Line Model Coming In 2023

Hyundai have confirmed to deliver on their promise of launching a new N Line model every year. Hyundai launched the N Line brand with the i20 N Line in 2021 and it was later followed by the launch of the Venue N Line in 2022. For the year 2023, Hyundai will launch a new N Line model in the Indian market. We are yet to get clarity on which model from the portfolio will wear the N Line badge. We can expect Hyundai to consider either the upcoming Creta facelift SUV or the next-gen Verna to undergo the N Line modifications for the Indian market.
