2023 Honda SUV Concept Design Details

The first teaser image reveals the front quarter design of the upcoming SUV. Up front, it gets slim LED DRLs that sit atop the flat bonnet. This design element seems to take inspiration from the Japan-spec HR-V Vezel SUV. However, unlike the HR-V, the upcoming SUV from Honda doesn’t feature a sloping roofline. Honda have also followed the current trend of front bumper-mounted headlights and we expect the upcoming SUV to feature LED projector headlamps in its higher variants.

Upcoming Honda SUV Expected Dimensions

Honda are yet to reveal the dimensions of the SUV. Hence, it is difficult to judge which segment the upcoming Honda SUV will compete in. Looking at the teaser though, the upcoming 2023 Honda SUV looks like a C-segment SUV that will rival the Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. However, several carmakers tend to tease their upcoming SUVs and crossovers with a bulked up design and proportions to entice prospective buyers. For instance, the concept versions of the Kwid and S-Presso looked a lot bulkier than the hatchbacks that went into production. Even though the upcoming Honda SUV concept looks like a C-segment SUV, the final production version may actually fall in the B2-segment when it hits production. For now, we can only wait for Honda to release more design sketches before confirming its dimensions and potential rivals.

2023 Honda Concept SUV Expected Powertrains

The upcoming SUV from Honda is likely to share its powertrains with the City sedan. It could come with a 1.5L normal petrol engine whereas the lower variants could also pack a 1.2L normal petrol engine from the Amaze. The 1.5L normal petrol engine in the City produces 121PS of power at 6600rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4300rpm. The 1.2L normal petrol engine in the Amaze produces 90PS of power at 6000rpm and 110Nm of torque at 4800rpm.

Honda are likely to reveal more information regarding the upcoming SUV in the coming months. The Japanese carmaker are likely to unveil its upcoming SUV in mid-2023, before launching it during the 2023 festive season.
