Fourth-Gen Skoda Octavia Launch Likely On June 10 | V3Cars

Earlier this month, Zac Hollis, Director - ŠKODA AUTO India, confirmed on Twitter that the fourth-gen Octavia will go on sale in June 2021. Now, we might have a launch date for the sedan. According to communication by a Skoda dealer, the new Octavia will go on sale on 10 June 2021 and the bookings for the sedan are already underway. The message also suggests that the sedan will be priced around Rs 27.5 lakh to Rs 32 lakh. That said, Skoda is yet to confirm any launch date for the new sedan.

Now, let’s take a look at what we know about the upcoming Octavia so far:

The fourth-gen Octavia will be offered with a petrol engine only. It will get a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine that makes 190PS and 320Nm paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. It is the same engine that does duty on various VW group cars like the Skoda Superb, VW Tiguan Allspace, Audi A4 and the Audi Q2. Skoda might also introduce a smaller 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine on the lower variants of the Octavia. It makes 150PS and 250Nm mated to either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DSG.

Features on offer include a digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech and cruise control. Other features that are expected to make way to the new sedan include dual-zone AC, a panoramic sunroof, wireless mobile charging and ventilated front seats. Safety features on offer should include up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control and hill launch assist.

In terms of design, the new Octavia looks sharper than its predecessor. It gets slimmer LED headlamps flanking the wider front grille. The side profile looks clean with a sharp character line running across the length. The rear resembles the bigger Superb sedan with sleek LED tail lamps flanking the Skoda badging on the boot lid.

On the inside, the new Octavia looks more premium and upmarket courtesy of the dual-tone cabin with a multi-layered dashboard. It also gets a new two-spoke steering wheel that we saw on the Skoda Kushaq.

The fourth-gen Octavia will compete with its sole rival, the Hyundai Elantra, as Honda discontinued the Civic earlier this year. Skoda also offers the previous-gen Octavia RS 245 in India with a price tag of Rs 35.99 lakh (ex-showroom India).
