Thar Armada Rival - Force Gurkha 5-Door Spotted; Looks Production Ready | V3Cars

The Force Gurkha 5-door was recently spotted again in the Ladakh region. Automobile manufacturers often test their vehicles in all kinds of environments. Testing in the foothills of the Himalayas helps them make sure that the vehicle remains as trouble free as possible in colder regions and high altitudes. Meanwhile, Rajasthan's Thar desert remains a test bed for hot and dry weather testing.

Speaking of Thar, its 5-door version is also getting ready for launch as we have seen it on public roads on several occasions. The 5-door version of the two off-road SUVs will go up against each other as both seem fairly ready to enter production. They’re likely to go on sale around mid-2024. This gives the manufacturers enough time to build a rapport among the buyers and adjust the production to suit the supply-demand scale ahead of the festive demand.

Force Gurkha 5-Door

On the one hand, the bigger Gurkha is likely to borrow the 2.6L turbo diesel engine with a 5-speed manual transmission and 4-wheel drivetrain from the smaller version. On the other hand, the Thar 5-door of Thar Armada is likely to bring a host of powertrain options including petrol engine and an automatic transmission with both, the petrol and the diesel engines.

Assuming that the Thar Armada is going after the lucrative C-segment SUVs, we should also expect more affordable 2WD options. On the powertrain side, the Gurkha is severely lacking the hardware to challenge the Thar’s might.

On the inside too, the Gurkha is likely to offer a spartan cabin and this theme is in line with the more off-road SUVs. however, to make the off-road SUV more palatable to the mass market buyers, the Thar is likely to bring a bunch of creature comforts like:

Sunroof
Front armrest
Larger touchscreen
Steering-mounted controls including cruise control

Force Gurkha 5-Door

Despite its shortcomings in the convenience features, the snorkel conveys the Gurkha’s ability to go and stay off-road for days on end. Thus, it may not sell in large numbers but it will remain a popular choice among buyers who don’t want to follow the herd and buy a Thar.
