February 2023 Cars Sales Analysis - D-Segment Cars YoY, MoM Change, 6-Month Trend | V3Cars

In this February 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all D-segment cars in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all D-segment cars for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend.

D-Segment Cars February 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change

SUVs and MPVs continue to rule the D-segment. There are only 3 sedans in the D-segment, and only 1 pick-up
The top 10 best-selling D-segment cars are all SUVs or MPVs, with 3 out of the top 5 being SUVs
The Mahindra Scorpio (Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic), Kia Carens, Mahindra XUV700, Toyota Innova (Crysta + Hycross) and Fortuner took the top 5 spots
The Hector pair was pushed by the Innova pair from 5th spot to 6th spot in February 2023
The clear top gainer in the category were the Scorpio sisters, with a 166% growth in the YoY comparison analysis, with almost 7,000 units dispatched in February 2023 compared to just 2,600 units in February 2022
The Scorpios were followed by the Toyota Fortuner, with an 85% YoY growth
Top notable losers in the YoY comparison were the Hyundai Alcazar, with about 38% drop in dispatches over the year, followed by the Tata Safari with about 35% drop in sales over the past year
The Alturas G4 by Mahindra is no longer on sale and hence, does not warrant a YoY comparison

D-Segment Cars February 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change

In terms of MoM performance, the Scorpio sisters were the best-selling cars in the D-segment but saw a decline of 20.25% in February over January
The Toyota Innova (Crysta & Hycross) was the top gainer in terms of MoM sales comparison. with over 190% increase in dispatches compared to January
All D-segment sedans witnessed a drop in sales in February compared to January, except Camry, which reported a 13.56% growth
The top 3 cars in the category saw a similar decrease of around 21% in MoM numbers.
