Citroen C3 Aircross Automatic In The Works

Citroen India have officially confirmed that they are working on an automatic transmission for the C3 Aircross, which will eventually also make its way to the C3 hatchback. While Citroen were tight-lipped about the type of automatic transmission they are currently developing for India, Citroen officials ruled out the automated manual transmission (AMT) and confirmed that they won’t offer an AMT due to their unrefined nature.

Globally, Citroen mostly offer torque converter (TC) automatic transmission with their cars and even the C5 Aircross comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Hence, it is safe to assume that Citroen will offer a torque converter automatic transmission with the C3 Aircross and C3 hatchback, and we expect it to be a 6-speed TC. The 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission could come with the C3 Aircross and also the C3 turbo petrol variants. Citroen India are yet to commit a timeline for the launch of the C3 Aircross automatic. We expect the carmaker to introduce the automatic transmission option a couple of months after the launch of the C3 Aircross.

Citroen C3 Aircross Launch Timeline

Citroen India will commence bookings for the C3 Aircross in September 2023 and announce the prices of the SUV in the same month. C3 Aircross deliveries, on the other hand, will start in October 2023. The new C3 Aircross will later be followed by its all-electric counterpart, which could hit showrooms in early 2024.
