No More Auto Expo From 2026; Auto Expo To Be Rebranded As Bharat Mobility Expo & Become A Yearly Event | V3Cars

Except for the disruptions since Covid, the Auto Expo has been happening every alternate year. Early in 2024, we witnessed a different kind of auto expo in Delhi — called the Bharat Mobility Expo. Soon, the two events will merge into one and to minimise further confusion (and contain fragmentation), they will just be called Bharat Mobility Expo.

Bharat Mobility Expo

The 2025 Auto Expo/Bharat Mobility Expo will be the first time the two events will seem to be trying to achieve one and the same goal: allowing manufacturers to showcase their craft to business, investors and customers.

2026 onwards, we expect the government officials and top executives responsible for organising the Indian auto show to do away with Auto Expo branding and adopt Bharat Mobility Expo.

Why Bharat Mobility Show?

There are 2 reasons for this:

  1. Most cities and countries which host auto shows have the name of the city or country in the event title to make it easy for the visitors and people interested in the motor show to begin recognising the place. Call it an international branding/marketing opportunity for the city or country. Here are some examples:
    1. Frankfurt Motor Show
    2. North American International Auto Show (or simply Detroit Auto Show)
    3. Tokyo Motor Show
    4. Paris Motor Show
    5. Auto China (Beijing/Shanghai)
    6. Auto Shanghai
    7. Los Angeles Auto Show
    8. New York International Auto Show

Ours has been the only prominent one without the name of our country or metro city in its name. Auto Expo without the name of the venue sounds incomplete and we lose out on the opportunity to cash in on the free publicity for the country.

  1. Secondly, for the last several years, the ruling party in governing India has been promoting India’s national language and the millenia old name for our land, Bharat. Thus, it helps promote nationalism. Believe it or not, nationalism also needs marketing. This is being done for both, local and international political gains and identity creation. Meanwhile, the major opposition coalition calls themselves INDIA — short for Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance.

Subtly and cleverly infusing their identities through such initiatives allows them to leave behind a legacy. In the event of the demise of a political party, such programs and monuments help rally, promote, support and revive (depending on the need of the hour) decades-old, sometimes century-old, ideologies.

There's a reason Rajiv Gandhi Awas Yojna has Rajiv Gandhi in its name. There’s a reason why bags of free grain to the underprivileged come with the prime minister’s photo on them.

Venue For 2025 Auto Expo/Bharat Mobility Expo

After a long time, the Auto Expo is returning to Delhi, Pragati Maidan area. The venue for the 2025 expo is Bharat Mandappam. It’s a 5-10 minute walk away from the closest metro station: Supreme Court (earlier known as Pragati Maidan Metro Station).

Given the likelihood of a lot of traffic due to a large number of visitors and the limited infrastructure around to support in such demanding times, we strongly advise you to take the metro to the expo. It’s far better than the inconvenience of having to find a suitable parking spot in jam-packed traffic and then walking to and from the spot.

2025 Expo Dates

The 2025 Expo will start accepting general visitors from January 17 until January 22, 2025. The organisers haven’t started the sale of tickets to the show but you can expect them to become available soon on BookMyShow.
