April 2023 Cars Sales Analysis - C-Segment SUV YoY, MoM Change, 6-Month Trend | V3Cars

In this April 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all C-segment SUVs in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all C-segment SUVs for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend.

C-Segment SUV April 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change

Among the high-volume cars from the category, the Creta was the top-selling SUV in the segment in April. About 14,200 units of the Creta were sold in April 2023 compared to just about 12,600 units in April 2022, which is a growth of 12.13%.
The other two gainers were MG Astor and ZS EV, with 182.73% and 103.70% YoY gains in April comparison.
MG Astor was the top gainer in the category in YoY comparison analysis for April.
Rest all other cars reported a declining trend in YoY comparison in April. The top-losing car was Jeep Compass with a 70% drop in YoY comparison.
Next in line in the top list of losers was Volkswagen Taigun, with a 32.78% YoY drop. It was followed by Skoda Kushaq with a 10.40% decline in YoY comparison.
Zero units of the Hyundai Kona were dispatched in April 2023.
Nissan Kicks and Maruti S-Cross have been discontinued by their respective manufacturers in the past 12 months.

C-Segment SUV April 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change

Only 2 cars out of 9 reported a growth in MoM comparison in the April comparison analysis, which were Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
Kia Seltos was the bigger MoM gainer, with a 10.05% rise in sales over March 2023.
Hyundai Creta reported an MoM growth of 1.14% in April.
Speaking of MoM losers in April comparison, MG Astor reported 53.41% drop, which was the steepest decline in monthly dispatches.
MG Astor was followed by Jeep Compass with a 32.66% drop, Toyota Hyryder and Volkswagen Taigun with 23-25% MoM decline in numbers.
The other losers were:
- Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara with a 22.93% decline.
- MG ZS EV with a 15.51% drop.
- Skoda Kushaq with 4% drop.
Hyundai Kona reported zero dispatches for yet another month. However, Kona EV is still listed on the website.
