8 Missing Features In Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Over Kia Carens | V3Cars
Maruti Suzuki recently launched the updated 2022 Ertiga as an answer to the heating competition from the popular Kia Carens. The Carens is the latest product from Kia in India and it comes with an impressive price tag. The Carens comes loaded with a ton of features and now Maruti Suzuki also added new features to the Ertiga in a bid to make it more appealing to buyers.
Here are 8 features that are missing in the Ertiga but present in the Carens.
1. LED Headlights And DRLs
The Carens offers all-LED headlights with new signature LED DRLs. On the other hand, the Ertiga continues to come with projector headlights without any LED DRL. However, both the Carens and Ertiga come with automatic headlights.
2. Ventilated Seats
Kia Carens comes with front ventilated seats with 3 speeds to choose from. Maruti Suzuki do not offer ventilated seats in any of their Arena offering. However, the recently-updated XL6 does come with front ventilated seats.
3. 10.25-inch Touchscreen
Kia offer a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with telematics, Android Auto and AppleCarPlay with the Carens. The Ertiga, however, continues to get a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Fortunately, it too offers telematics, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
4. Digital Driver’s Display
The Carens comes with an all-digital LCD driver’s display. The driver’s display gets several visual themes that change according to the selected drive mode. On the other hand, the Ertiga comes with a conventional dial setup with a colour MID in the middle.
5. Drive Modes
The Kia Carens comes with multiple drive modes. Users can choose from Eco, Normal and Sport, which change the characteristics of the engine and gearbox. The Ertiga, on the other hand, comes with a manual mode for the transmission but no dedicated modes to alter engine and gearbox response.

6. Diesel And Turbo Petrol Engines
Kia offer the Carens with three engine options — 1.5L normal petrol, 1.4L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel. The 2 turbocharged engines come with both manual and automatic transmission options. Meanwhile, the Ertiga is only offered with a 1.5L normal petrol engine. It gets 2 transmission options – a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
7. Electric Sunroof
Kia offer the Carens with a regular-sized electric sunroof. Meanwhile, no car from Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa portfolio offer the option of an electric sunroof to date. The upcoming Grand Vitara, which will be sold via Maruti Nexa, will change all that as it is likely to offer a large panoramic sunroof.
8. 6 Airbags
The Carens comes with 6-airbags as standard across all the variants along with other standard safety features. The Ertiga, meanwhile, comes with 4 airbags as standard across all the variants. If you want to know why the new Ertiga doesn’t get 6 airbags, click here.
