Tata Harrier EV – Here’s What We Know So Far

Although the Tata Harrier EV shares several of its design elements with the Harrier ICE, it is based on Tata’s new Acti.ev electric scalable platform. The Acti.ev made its debut in the form of the Tata Punch EV and Tata say this platform can accommodate larger electric vehicles as well. As for the Harrier EV, Tata promises “uncompromised range and forward-looking tech features” coupled with a svelte design.

While Tata are yet to reveal the electric powertrain specifications of the Harrier EV, the carmaker has said the it will feature an all-wheel-drive. So expect it to come packed with an electric motor at either axle and a large battery pack that could help the Harrier EV offer over 500km of range on a single charge.

In terms of design, the Harrier EV concept offers a glimpse into the production-spec SUV. Up front, the Harrier EV concept features a different upper and lower grille to the Harrier ICE and a full width-LED DRL. The side profile of the Harrier electric and diesel are pretty much identical, save for the aero-optimised alloy wheels on the former. The rear end too remains unchanged apart from the obvious lack of exhaust outlets on the lower side of the bumper.

Apart from the Tata Harrier EV, the carmaker also showcased the Safari #Dark. While the Safari #Dark is already on sale in India, the SUV showcased at the Bharat Mobility Show features a few key differences. Unlike the Safari Dark that’s on sale at the moment, the SUV at Tata’s pavilion offers a red accents on the bumper and red ‘Safari’ badges on the front door and tailgate. On the inside, the Safari Dark that’s on sale currently offers an all-black cabin while the one at the show offers red upholstery and red door handles. Apart from these changes, both Dark editions are identical to each other. We expect Tata to offer the newer option at dealerships soon. The Safari Dark pack is offered with the Adventure Plus, Accomplished and Accomplished Plus variants of the D-segment 3-row SUV.
