MG’s Next EV Teased Ahead Of Festive Season Launch – Based On Wuling Cloud EV | V3Cars
MG Motor India have teased their next electric vehicle for the Indian market. Based on the teaser video and various spy shots from earlier this year, we can confirm the upcoming EV is a rebadged and renamed version of the Wuling Cloud EV sold in various Asian markets. The upcoming MG EV will slot the gap between the Comet EV and ZS EV in MG India’s portfolio.
Upcoming MG EV To Offer 2-Spoke Steering Wheel, Plush Seats
The first official teaser for MG’s upcoming EV based on the Wuling Cloud EV contains the text:
“Imagine the comfort of a sedan and the expanse of an SUV. The plushness of a sedan, the aura of an SUV. Imagine all this coming together in one futuristic crossover. A blend so rare, it will begin a new era of intelligent mobility.”
The teaser video, however, does not reveal the SUV’s exterior. The text in the teaser might lead one to believe MG will launch a coupe SUV like the upcoming Tata Curvv and Citroen Basalt. However, since MG are calling their upcoming electric car ‘The Intelligent CUV’, we are confident they are gearing up to launch a rebadged and renamed version of the Wuling Cloud EV in India. After all, spy shots from earlier this year showed the Cloud EV testing on the streets with ‘The Intelligent CUV’ stickers on the side.
The Comet EV is another example of an electric vehicle which is sold under the Wuling brand with a different name in other Asian markets. When MG launched the Comet EV in India, they replaced the Wuling logo with an MG one and renamed the electric city runabout from Air EV to Comet EV.

We could make out features like the Cloud EV’s 2-spoke steering wheel, sofa-like seats, and the LED DRL lighting signature from the latest teaser video. However, since the Cloud EV is already on sale in other Asian markets, we already know the list of features MG could offer with their upcoming EV. Based on the Wuling crossover sold elsewhere, we expect the MG EV to offer the following features in its top variant:
- ADAS suite
- 8.8-inch digital driver’s display
- 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Synthetic leather seats
- Sofa mode with 135-degree backseat recline
- 360-degree surround view monitor
- 6 speakers
- 2nd row AC
- Wireless charger
Upcoming MG EV Expected Price And Rivals
With a length of 4295mm, MG’s version of the Cloud EV will compete with other C-segment electric SUVs such as the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400 and the upcoming Tata Curvv EV. As mentioned before, the upcoming MG EV will slot in between the Comet EV and ZS EV in JSW MG India’s lineup. We expect MG to price it in the Rs. 15.0 lakh - Rs. 20.0 lakh price range.
