Citroen Reveal Production Spec Basalt Coupe SUV Ahead Of Launch | V3Cars

Citroen India have revealed the production-spec version of the 2024 Basalt coupe SUV ahead of its global debut on August 2. The latest set of images give us a clear glimpse of the production-spec Basalt’s design changes over the Basalt Vision Coupe concept that was showcased in March 2024. Here’s everything we know about the Basalt 2024 ahead of its global debut.

2024 Citroen Basalt Revealed

2024 Citroen Basalt Design And Features

While the production-spec Basalt looks similar to the Basalt Vision Coupe concept, it does get a few subtle changes. Firstly, the images of the production-spec Basalt reveal the coupe SUV’s 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels shod with tyres that have a relatively higher sidewall. The Basalt Vision Coupe concept, on the other hand, featured larger black alloy wheel setup with low profile tyres.

The production-spec Basalt gets a matte finish for the side body cladding whereas the concept coupe SUV featured gloss black panels. The matte finish side body cladding should help protect the SUV from dings and scratches. However, it remains to be seen if these panels are resistant to fading over time.

Similar design elements between the production-spec Basalt 2024 and its concept version include LED projector headlamps with DRLs, halogen tail lamps, pull-type body-coloured door handles, and a black roof.

The teaser video released by Citroen earlier this week confirmed features like a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control with toggle switches, front armrest with storage, contoured rear seat headrests, and manual day/night inside rearview mirror (IRVM).

No Sunroof Option For Citroen Basalt 2024

The production-spec Citroen Basalt misses out on features like a sunroof and ventilated seats, which its primary rival, the 2024 Tata Curvv, is expected to offer in its mid- and top-variants. In fact, most C-segment SUVs on sale today, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, offer a dual-pane panoramic sunroof in their higher variants.

Citroen Basalt Likely To Undercut Tata Curvv Petrol Launch Price

While Citroen are yet to confirm the exact launch timeline for the Basalt coupe SUV, we expect it to take place ahead of the 2024 festive season, which begins at the end of October. Citroen are likely to wait for the price reveal of the Tata Curvv petrol before determining a price for the Basalt. Citroen India have traditionally priced their offerings lower than their direct rivals, and we expect the carmaker to take a similar approach with the Basalt as well.

Both the Curvv petrol and Basalt will launch with 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engines. However, the Tata Curvv will also offer a 1.5L diesel engine as well as an all-electric powertrain.

2024 Citroen Basalt Expected Powertrain Options

Citroen are yet to reveal the powertrain options for the Basalt coupe SUV. That said, it is likely to use the same 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine as the C3 Aircross and C3 SUVs. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine produces 110PS of power and 205Nm of torque and is offered with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission in the C3 Aircross.
