2023 Hyundai Exter Spied Undisguised Ahead Of Launch | V3Cars
Hyundai are all set to reveal the Exter small SUV in the coming weeks. Ahead of its global debut, a new set of spy shots from South Korea reveal its exterior design. Read on to know more details about the upcoming Exter SUV.

2023 Hyundai Exter Spotted Undisguised
The first undisguised images of the Exter reveal its front- and rear-quarter. Unlike the Venue that looks like a hatchback on steroids, the Exter carries an upright stance with boxy proportions. The nose of the Exter seems flat in the images and is accompanied by a clamshell bonnet. The upper portion of the front gets a slim black stripe connecting the H-shaped LED DRLs. The main LED headlights sit lower on the bumper in a rectangular casing. The main radiator grille of the Exter gets rectangular vents whereas the lower bumper also features a black skid plate.

Around the side, the Exter gets squared-off wheel arches with black cladding and machined alloy wheels. It gets a prominent shoulder line along with accentuated rear wheel arches for a robust look. Furthermore, the images also reveal chunky roof rails and a large greenhouse area. The Exter seems a lot taller than the Hyundai Venue, at least in these images. At the rear, the Exter gets wraparound LED tail lights with H-shaped lighting elements. The tail lights are connected by a black applique. We await the images of the India-bound before sharing more details about its design and proportions.

2023 Hyundai Exter Powertrain Details
Since the new Hyundai Exter small SUV is likely to share its platform with the Grand i10 Nios, it is safe to assume that it will also borrow the 1.2L normal petrol engine from the Nios hatchback. The Fronx and C3 also offer a 1.2L normal petrol engine at affordable price points. Additionally, the Exter could also offer a 1.0L turbo petrol engine with the higher variants for those looking for more power and torque.
The turbo petrol engine could give the Exter the upper hand over the segment leader — the Tata Punch — that doesn’t offer a turbo petrol engine option yet. Furthermore, considering the popularity of CNG powered vehicles these days, Hyundai may also offer the Exter with a factory-fitted CNG option for cost-conscious buyers.
2023 Hyundai Exter Launch Timeline
Hyundai India are likely to launch the Exter SUV in July 2023. The carmaker could commence bookings for the small SUV soon. While the Exter will rival the Tata Punch and Citroen C3, its top variants that are likely to offer a 1.0L turbo petrol engine could also compete against the turbo petrol variants of the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
