2023 Honda City Facelift Spied On Test In India | V3Cars
Honda launched the 5th-gen City in 2020 and added a strong hybrid variant with ADAS last year. Honda Cars India have begun testing the 2023 City facelift to rival the upcoming, new-gen Hyundai Verna, which will hit our shores in early 2023. A test car wrapped in camouflage was spotted recently, giving us a sneak peek into the changes.
The new 2023 City facelift is likely to get a redesigned front end. While we do not expect any big changes to the headlights, the new City facelift could get a new front grille and front bumper. The spy shots also revealed sporty inserts near the fog lamp housing. The City facelift could also get new diamond-cut alloy wheels and side skirting. At the back, it could get revised LED tail lights and bumper.

There are no spy shots of the City facelift’s interiors. The City already offers a good set of features on the inside, However, with the facelift, Honda could add features like an updated touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charger and ventilated front seats. Apart from that, we do not expect any change in terms of space and comfort with the new City.
In terms of powertrain, the City facelift is likely to continue with the current engine options. These include a 1.5L turbo diesel engine, which produces 100PS of power and 200Nm of torque, and a 1.5L normal petrol engine that puts out 121PS of power and 145Nm of torque. While the diesel engine comes with a 5-speed manual, the petrol engine comes with a 6-speed manual and CVT transmission options. Honda also offer a strong hybrid option with the City that offers 126PS of power and a claimed fuel efficiency of 26.5kmpl.

The updated Honda City facelift will rival other C-segment sedans like the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia. Hyundai will launch the new-gen Verna in India early next year with new features and bigger dimensions. Skoda will also launch a special edition of the Slavia with sporty inserts and updated features in 2023.
