2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Facelift Unveiled | V3Cars

Volkswagen has unveiled the Tiguan Allspace facelift. It features various cosmetic updates that look similar to the Tiguan facelift which will go on sale in India soon.

The Tiguan Allspace facelift gets refreshed horizontally slatted front grille with the new VW logo, new sharper LED headlamps, redesigned front and rear bumpers and slightly modified tail lamps flanking the Tiguan badging on the tailgate. 

On the inside, while the cabin layout remains unchanged, it gets a new steering wheel, an updated central console with touch-based controls for AC, ambient lighting and an updated 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Tiguan Allspace facelift also comes with IQ LED lighting which a first for the SUV.

Other features on the updated Tiguan Allspace include a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, electrically adjustable driver’s seat with heated and ventilation function and three-zone AC. 

Safety features on offer include nine airbags, parking assist, adaptive cruise control, rear traffic alert, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, a parking camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, lane assist, and hill descent control. With the update, the Tiguan Allspace facelift also gets Travel Assist, a system that can take over steering, braking and acceleration at speeds of up to 210 kmph. 

Globally the Tiguan Allspace facelift will be offered with multiple petrol and diesel engine options including a 150PS 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine in two states of tune-190PS and 245PS. The diesel engine on offer is a 2.0-litre unit making producing 150PS and 200PS, depending on the trim. All engines are mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission however, only the 2.0-litre petrol and the 2.0-litre diesel engines are offered with a 4MOTION 4WD system. 

However, in India, the Tiguan Allspace will be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine as the current model. It makes 190PS and 320Nm paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic and a 4MOTION 4WD system. 

As mentioned above, Volkswagen has already debuted the Tiguan facelift in India and it will go on sale in the coming few weeks. Expect the Tiguan Allspace facelift to arrive at our shores, not before early 2022. It is expected to be priced at a slight premium over the current model which retails at Rs 34.20 lakh (ex-showroom India). It will continue to take on the likes of the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and upcoming SUVs like the Skoda Kodiaq facelift and the Jeep 7-seater SUV.
