Tata Motors launched the 2026 Punch on January 13, 2026. For 2026, Tata Motors are offering the Punch with 2 petrol engine options – a 1.2L normal petrol and a 1.2L turbo petrol – as well as a 1.2L CNG bi-fuel option with the choice of both a manual and AMT automatic transmission. Prices for the Punch 2026 range from Rs. 5.59 lakh to Rs. 10.54 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Motors have introduced a new engine option for the Punch SUV – a 1.2L turbo petrol engine borrowed from the Altroz and Nexon. This new engine makes the 2026 Punch the most powerful SUV in its segment.

The Tata Punch facelift offers a larger turbo petrol engine than its rivals. So it’s not surprising that it is the most powerful SUV in its segment.
The turbo petrol variants of the Fronx, Magnite and Kiger offer 100PS of power. The Kiger offers 10Nm more torque than the Magnite and 12Nm more than the Fronx.
The Hyundai Exter is the only SUV in this comparison to not offer a turbo petrol engine.
The Tata Punch turbo petrol is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission. All other turbo petrol SUVs offer a 5-speed manual as standard.
The Fronx offers a 6-speed torque converter while the Magnite and Kiger offer a CVT.
It’s worth noting that the Magnite and Kiger share the same engine and transmission options.

The Punch facelift, Exter and Fronx offer 1.2L normal petrol engines whereas the Magnite and Kiger offer a smaller 1L petrol engine.
