Citroen India have revealed the production-spec Basalt coupe SUV along with its powertrain options and fuel efficiency figures. In this article, we take a look at the 2024 Basalt’s fuel efficiency figures and compare them against other C-segment SUVs, such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and MG Astor.

The 2024 Basalt gets 2 engine and 2 transmission options. The 1.2L turbo petrol engine is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine, on the other hand, is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission. 2024 Citroen Basalt Mileage Compared With C-SUV Rivals

The new Citroen Basalt’s primary rival is the Tata Curvv petrol. However, it also competes against other C-segment SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and MG Astor.

Apart from the new Citroen Basalt, the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate and MG Astor offer the option of a normal petrol engine. The 2024 Citroen Basalt normal petrol is only available with a 5-speed manual and it offers a claimed mileage of 18.0kmpl. Among C-SUVs powered by a normal petrol engine, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder are the most fuel efficient, while the Elevate is the least fuel efficient petrol-manual SUV and the Astor is the least efficienct petrol-automatic SUV.

The Volkswagen Taigun offers the most efficient turbo petrol-manual and turbo petrol-automatic powertrains in the C-segment. The Kia Seltos offers the least efficient turbo petrol-manual powertrain, while the MG Astor offers the least efficient turbo petrol-automatic powertrain. 

A direct mileage comparison between the Citroen Basal and Tata Curvv is not possible at the moment as Tata are yet to reveal the fuel efficiency figures of the Curvv’s 2 turbo petrol engine options.
